In order to make a deep understanding about
the terms “teaching” let’s analyze, Jaralimek in
Sarifah view about it. He defines “teaching as
process in which human being have been engaged from the beginning of their
tenure on earth, perhaps many millions of years ago. According to him, “the
basic from of the teaching is instruction”[1]
We know that to make easily understood the
material in learning process, a teacher should used learning media. There are
much learning media can used in learning as audio media, visual media and
audiovisual or video media. Short card is a kind of Visual media.
As states above, the basic from of teaching is
instruction. To confirm the idea, Gerlach in Rosdiana explains:
“It further in relation with teaching strategy, in which he used term
instructional strategies. According to him traditional term of instruction
strategies is method. Then he explains the two terms in two definitions,
strategy is the teacher approach to using information, selecting resources, and
defining the role of the students. He defines the method as a systematic plan
for presentation information.”[2]
Gerlach in Rosdiana defines:
“Learning as a change in behavior following instruction. It involves the
total human being, in which consist of their types of learning:
1). Cognitive learning
Cognitive learning deals with that a learner should understand or
comprehend. For example, students learn know to distinguish one color form
another, the name part of the speech, and many other similar.
2). Psychomotor learning
Psychomotor learning concerned with how a learner moves or controls the
body. For example: students learn to color with crayons, to cut with scissors,
to type, and perform many other similar tasks.
3). Affective learning
Affective learning concerned with how a learner feels or shows a change
in attitudes or values, actually, effective learning is evidence of attitudes,
for example: learner learn to agree, to cooperate, to be polite.”[3]
In teaching and learning
process, a teacher can use some kinds of learning media to reach the Lesson aim
which wish the reached by the teacher. One of the
learning media is short card media.
Short card is learning media
used in submitting of items in the form of small card that consist a word. The
cards will be compiled by student to make a sentence.
By using the short
card media is expected can facilitate the student comprehends the English
Lesson specially tenses by easily so that the teaching learning always uses it
in learning process in class.
